Recently read "Nine Perfect Strangers" by Liane Moriarty - loved it! Also, just before that read Bruce Coffin's "Beyond The Truth" which is the 3rd in a series. Wonderful!

At the risk of sounding very, very weird: I call out loud to my mother in Heaven, who had a long, successful writing career while here on Planet Earth. "Calling on the power of the Marge!" I say. I don't do this, like, in the middle of the mall. I do it at home, where no one is listening (except her.) I think if you are stuck, you could try this, too, although she might be busy, so be patient. OK. Less-weird advice: I walk, carrying my pad and pen, or I change wherever I am and go somewhere. At times, I make a decision that I'm going to put the writing away and do something completely different and revisit it the next day. All those things work for me, but you will discover what helps you.

The best thing about being a writer? Um...coffee and setting your own hours. Oh - and there's nothing quite like seeing your words in print. Yeah, that is such a wonderful feeling.

Write, write, write. Keep submitting, get a few readers for feedback, learn, put your ego aside...do not give up. If you love what you do and are willing to put in the time and effort and angst, you will likely find an audience. Be ethical always, be grateful, and don't be afraid to use your God-given big mouth to promote in a positive way!

I am currently revising a screenplay co-written with my mom, Margery Eliscu, who was a well-loved humor columnist in Maine for many, many years. It's a family comedy.

Living life, in all its natural mess, is inspiration enough for me. The words flow, which is a good thing because I am a very peaceful person, but take away my pen and you'd probably hear me shouting for a distance of whatever-a-lot-of-miles-is (I was never very good at geography.)

My ideas came from sitting through ridiculously boring staff meetings during which someone should have checked my pulse, and from trying to do everything for everyone in my life which is never a good idea because it takes a lot of time away from eating ice cream.
