"Rebels from Olympus" came to me in a dream back in 2000. I have wanted to be a writer since I was eight, and majored in it in college. However, whenever I tried to pin down a story to write, it never worked out. I would give up because I didn't know where to go with it. After I had this dream of a blonde woman and her children coming to Earth on a mission to help out the humans, I couldn't forget it. I began to develop characters and take plot notes. I started seriously writing the novel in 2001.

I don't wait to be inspired. Since I also work a full-time job, I have conditioned myself to sit and write whenever there's time available to do so. I turn on the creative side of my brain, and the words begin to flow.

I am currently writing the second book in the Rebels Duet series. It's titled "The Rebel's Call", and picks up Justus' story three years later.

Read. Read. And read some more. It does help to take some workshops and classes to hone your writing skills, but, for me, good writing becomes almost second nature when you immerse yourself in good reading.

The creative moment. When I write, everything passes away, and it's just the story and the creative act of writing that exists for me. Hours will pass without me realizing it. Even if the writing isn't as good as I would like it to be, I feel exhilarated when I've spent a good block of time in this creative act.

I have not had writer's block. If there's ever a point in my writing where I feel a little stuck, I plow through with whatever thought comes into my mind. It's usually a bunch of junk that comes through onto the page, but I usually find some little gem that I can take and expand on. Many times, that piece becomes one of my favorite bits of writing in my novel.
