My husband was out of town and children were all in bed and I was opening the mail when a I heard a click; the door downstairs had closed. I called down, "Is somebody there?" and an answer rose up: "Don't be mean."

The greatest motivators for me involve some level of bewilderment and nerdiness. Bewilderment in that I just can't figure out why or how something was or is the way it is so I go hunting for answers. Nerdiness in that I love the stage when I start finding inklings and one leads to another and you would never imagine the odd corners of experience and knowledge you find yourself in.
