Adam W.F. Hall Write. Lots. I teach creative writing to young people, both in a school and on residential courses, and my overwhelming experience is that most people stick to what is familiar and won't expand - I would say you should absolutely write a range of styles, even (especially...) those you aren't comfortable with.

Also, don't be afraid to share your work and get feedback - It is terrifying, but vital to ensuring your work is as good as it can be!
Adam W.F. Hall Usually by writing something else! Often I will just leave a piece of work, and just spend a few days or weeks thinking about it. My most common cause of writers block is due a character not acting in the way they should, so I will spend time working out how they would act in that scenario, and then adjust the plot to fit.
