William Timothy Murray Okay, so I asked myself that question because I often get asked that and it is a really hard question for me to answer! There have been so many works of fiction that have influenced me in one way or another.

If I absolutely had to list two novels, then I'd say probably either Dr. Zhivago or Les Miserables. Some other authors have been very influential to me are Dickens, Tolkien, St. Exupery, Patrick O'Brian, etc.
William Timothy Murray I'm not sure I really believe in Writer's Block. Of course, as with anything, there are times that you just don't feel like working. Times when you need a break. Or times when you feel stymied by some problem or obstacle that keeps you from moving ahead with your work.

I don't waste time agonizing over all that. I just turn to a different task that needs to be done, a different passage to write, editing, or some other task that needs attention. There's always something to do. When I come back to the troublesome task, I almost always feel better about tackling it. The key is to just keep working, because idleness will just make you dull.
