On Amazon, the series is called the Francis Sadler series, but on GoodReads, they are listed as the Connie Childs series. Why the difference and what should the name of the series be?
Sarah Ward Hi Sandy - this was a publishers decision. I was adamant this was Connie's story but they started by branding them as Inspector Sadler. However, the readers loved Connie so they changed it. So the books are the DC Childs series.

Loved The Shrouded Path - another 5 star read for me - but, a minor point, were you aware that the Police non-emergency number appears on two occasions in the hardback edition as 111 when it is actually 101?
Sarah Ward Hi Kim - I didn't spot it until someone told me on publication date. I mixed up my 101 and 111. I'm getting it changed for the paperback - it went through me, my editor, my copy editor and proof reader and not one of us spotted it. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the book though! Thanks, Sarah

Has anyone compared your writing to Tana French ? You put me in mind of her voice , which is a huge compliment in my mind . I also like the fact that you can write a police procedural without using extreme profanity , really enjoyed 'In Bitter Chill' ! Will the Connie Child series have a long life ?
Sarah Ward Hi Ed - thanks for getting in touch. I haven't read any Tana French but I have heard great things about her. thanks, too, for the lovely words about In Bitter Chill. There's a second book in the series 'A Deadly Thaw' out now and I've finished the third, A Patient Fury which is out in September. I'm currently writing book four. Best wishes, Sarah

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Sarah Ward It's based on an experience that happened to me as a child when a woman tried to get me into her car.

How do you get inspired to write?
Sarah Ward Once I've started writing a book I'm keen to crack on with it. But I also listen to music to inspire me.

Sarah Ward I've just started the third book in the crime series set in Derbyshire.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Sarah Ward Keep going! Nothing is perfect when it first goes on the page. The magic is in the editing.

Sarah Ward Meeting people who've read and enjoyed your book. It's always a special moment.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Sarah Ward I generally don't suffer from writer's block. On the few occasions I've not known where to go with the next chapter, I've left it blank and moved on to the following one.
