J. Barry Reid First, I take a break and do something different for a little while. Then I think about the story again, and the different parts that happened so far. I ask myself, is there something else that could happen, especially something unexpected. Something that I would not have thought about the characters or the plot already so far. Or I think about where I was planning for the story to go, and what would be some ways to get there.
J. Barry Reid All the different people that I got to talk to during the process and when we published this first book. In this process, I reconnected with family and friends, including lots of old friends I hadn't seen in a while.
J. Barry Reid Find something that really, really interests you. And see what your ideas are about it, and then start writing anything you can about these ideas. You will have to go back and edit it, and think about it, and augment and revise your story line. Be patient during all this process. It will take time, but will be well worth it.
J. Barry Reid I'm working on writing a sequel to Reversal: The Skyfire Begins. And my wife Tiane is working on a prequel. Later this year, we plan to read each other's manuscripts and collaborate to get these two new books completed.

J. Barry Reid When I was studying and later working as a geologist, I became aware of strange things that can happen with the earths magnetic field. Those kinds of upheavals happened a number of times in the distant past. I realized they could have big impacts on modern society, and I started having ideas that I wanted to make into a book. My first manuscript was about 15 years ago, and in the last two years I finally put the work into it to complete it as this book.
