Robin O Having a deadline definitely helps! Having a topic that you're passionate about is inspiring and gets the creative juices flowing.
Robin O It was definitely from going on librarian position interviews and feeling somewhat adrift. I couldn't understand why all the information I needed wasn't available in one helpful guide, so that's what I set out to write.
Robin O You have something to say! Don't try to imitate someone else's writing style or words, trust your own voice and your instincts.
Robin O I think just having people tell me that they've found the information in my book useful. I wanted to have a guide like "Ace the Interview: Land a Librarian Job" when I was getting out of library school, so it's great to hear from recent MLS/MLIS grads that reading my book has been helpful.
Robin O I think the worst thing you can do when you have writer's block is to beat yourself up about it. I've found that it's helpful to just take a break from your writing and try to think about the root problem. Think about where the block is really coming from. The problem is probably not that you don't have anything to say.

I also found it very helpful to have dedicated writing days where I set a word count for myself. That way, even if I'm not feeling like writing, if it's Thursday, I know that I have to write 400 words.
Robin O I'm currently working on a book about video marketing for libraries with two co-authors. It should be released next year.
