I don't believe our writing gets blocked. I believe it needs a vacation.
When I find myself at a loss for words, I play and allow my ideas to marinate and manifest in my subconscious. Here's a few of my favorite distractions:
• go to a movie
• listen to music and dance
• go for a walk
• play a game of pool
• go shopping
• clean
• change of scenery - work in a park, restaurant, bar, or just outside
• talk with a friend
• watch tv
• go out to eat
• sleep on it.

I didn't write these poems, they wrote me. When I was overwhelmed with emotion and didn't think anyone could hear me or understand, the words poured through me onto the pages . . . sometimes between the blinding tears of heartbreak and betrayal, sometimes fueled by liquid courage on bar napkins, sometimes in the depths of depression and sometimes by the light of love.
