I use other art forms to get over writer's block - I am an avid photographer and if I am writing and hit a snag, usually it means it's time for a break for me, so I pick up my camera and venture out - other days (especially rainy ones), I might pick up a paintbrush or pencil and try to create something different - after all a picture could be a thousand words right? :)

For me personally, writing has therapeutic value - it's a chance to not only escape from your reality (like reading) but you have that added perk of creating your own world - a place that you can get lost in and bring others along and then even they have their own take on what you have created. Words are so powerful!

Might sound cliche, but "just do it". I have wanted to be a published writer since I was 16 and I have written many things, blogged it, self-published or just printed and filed away. I'm not getting any younger, so this time I just said to myself "follow through until the end Nisha" and I did and I am so very happy that I have.

As an artist, inspiration comes a lot of times from life itself as well as from other artists. Many times, it's from something I read or saw and my mind goes off on a tangent to draw from it and make it something unique to me and my experiences.

As a child, I always loved the idea that animals could understand us and that they could have a human personality. When I met my Illustrator Keith and saw the way he brought inanimate objects to life with pen and ink, my mind was made up that I had to write a children's book and bring my favorite animal (a giraffe) at the forefront.
