May B. Bridges Hi! Sorry I didn't see this question sooner. I've been away from Goodreads. Unfortunately plans for Binding Hope and Revealing Rose were cancelled. I am hard at work on another series and hope to have good news to report to readers soon.
May B. Bridges So so many. Did you see my want to read shelf? There are some really great books coming out this year. Check out this list to see what I'll be reading: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
May B. Bridges Top secret! But it's safe to say it's probably dark, gritty, and steamy.
May B. Bridges I take a break and read. It might be a book in my genre. It might be a book from an author I love in a different genre. Reading refills my writing well. I also try talking through the issue out loud. Sometimes all you need is a conversation with a friend. It doesn't have to be a writer, but someone willing to listen and as "what if". Even if they don't come up with any usable ideas, sometimes explaing why their "what if" won't work, helps you figure out what will.
May B. Bridges Read deep in your genre. Be passionate about the book you are writing. If you aren't, it will show. Be a student of the craft. This doesn't mean you have to go to school. It means be open to learning. Read writing craft books from authors you admire. Research things like acceptable word counts, pros and cons of prologues, norms for books in your target audience age range. Approach beta reader and critique partner feedback with an open mind. And most importantly, keep writing. The more you read and write, the better you'll be!
May B. Bridges I read amazing books from other authors across many genres. Nothing makes me want to write like reading a book that sucks me in.
