Brandon S. Pilcher Sometimes I get inspired to write when I do visual art. I want to give the characters in my artwork stories so that they have an existence beyond the pictures in which they first appear. Other times, I simply think to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if..."
Brandon S. Pilcher My novel "Priestess of the Lost Colony" owes its conceptual roots to two sources. The first was ancient Greek legends of Egyptians settling on their shores, such as the story of the oracle of Dodona (said to have been founded by Egyptian priestesses) or the legend of the Danaides. The other was Egyptian accounts from the Middle Kingdom of their military activity in the eastern Mediterranean, including a possible raid on the island of Cyprus. That made me wonder, "What if ancient Egyptians colonized Greece during the Middle Kingdom?"
