Advice I would give someone who has the thought on publishing a novel or just wants to write in general, is to just put your mind to it. It won't happen unless you do it. No procrastinating! Just go and try, and hopefully you become who you want to be, even if it's a daily blogger on books you read. You can't climb the staircase, unless you try.

This question really comes down to the individual. But myself, can gain inspiration from multiple things. From reading a favourite book, gazing out over the horizon on the beach, or what happens most of the time, when I'm sleeping.
