Reading good books (or watching good TV shows or movies) and riding the emotional high. There's inspiration everywhere, if you're open to it.

Any idea you get for a story, no matter how small or random it seems, write it down. Character descriptions, lines of dialogue, details about a room or the weather or a meal, whatever. Write it all down. Save it. Sift through it once in a while when you need inspiration.
