A policeman comes in on the night shift despite having the flu and pulls over to an entrance to a salvage yard to rest. He wakes, or thinks he is awake to see a young woman standing in the headlights then she disappears, two weeks later a similar woman is found decomposing in the salvage yard.

Wow, this is a hard question. I am a science fiction fan but J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings detailed lands would be it for me. I would like to be an elf and join the battles.

For now, I am limited. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Criminal Justice. I have a lot of reading to do mostly research related. I can not wait to start reading the books recommended by Goodreads readers.

I have a wide variety ranging from science fiction to even cartoons when I grew up. Han Solo and Princess Leia and even Lady and the Tramp. I guess I would say this because often these characters were not a text book match. I think it makes the story more interesting when things do not match and a good story is told that is almost forbidden.

Kathleen thanks for the question,
I enjoyed writing this book and the research was the fun part. It has a deep meaning when you are a part of the law enforcement agency that investigated the case years ago. The tavern or dance hall is now a house and the actual character that my story was based on is buried a few blocks away. I am fascinated with those cases you mentioned. I went to New Orleans in January and spoke with a ghost tour member about the axeman. He advised me that the axeman information was researched by a person that worked for his tour for the American Horror story character. I plan on writing some modern fiction books that have actual events incorporated in them. I also am going to write about the time period during South Texas during prohibition which was just as wild or more than Chicago and Al Capone. I also found real good stories from Detective Magazines from the 1930's and 1940's that interview the detectives that really blew my mind and really interest me. I believe there are more stories out there that may have been forgotten with time since now a days, one touch of a button and the whole world knows.
Thank you again,
a pleasure talking to you Kathleen

I must admit that I did research before I wrote. I think if there is some doubt a little research might help and present more ideas.

I found out so many things when you focus on what you want to write. Through research I discovered a few facts that have never been discovered about the actual person my book was based on. Writing brings a sense of freedom since it is your ideas being brought to light.

Take the time to research with your loved ones and include them in some kind of way in your book. Make sure it is fun and enjoyable experience when you write your book.

I really want to explore the crime in San Antonio area during the 1900's to the 1950's. The area is known heavily for the heroic fight for independence which is mainly about the Alamo. There is so much more forgotten in a growing city that has not been told.I am working on books from this era.

I found myself writing a lot as a graduate student as a detective. I actually found that I enjoyed the research part but really wanted to write something I was inspired to write. I wanted to write something that was not work or academic but at the same time used what I learned from work and school.

I work as a law enforcement officer and heard about this local legend. I researched some facts which put a historical perspective of the prohibition and violence the San Antonio endured. I was puzzled when I discovered that Joe Black (based on Joseph Ball) was buried in a Catholic cemetery on sacred ground. He was accused of murder.
