I share my office with two pet rats. I also have a very streetwise cat. Every night I make sure the cat is out of the office and the door is safely shut. But what would happen if one night I forgot to do this? The rats are nocturnal. The cat is nocturnal. I'd imagine there's a plot for a book in there somewhere, but it might not have a happy ending.

Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler, although Scarlett made me so frustrated. I wish I could scream at her, "Open your eyes! Do you not see what is right in front of your face? And what do you see in Ashley Wilkes, anyway?" Still, the love story keeps me reading until the end!

The book that's coming out next month, The Chronicles of Kibblestan: Canines, was inspired by a few things: The 9/11 attacks and learning about the Taliban's treatment of women, my daughter (who was a baby at the time I started writing), seeing the movie "American Sniper", and my dog Maci-Mo, who has gone to dog heaven, but will always remain The Best Dog In the World.
