The idea came within an hour of finishing Stephen King's book, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. He suggested applying "What if" to your story ideas. Well, I had just the story to try his theory out on.
When I was young, I was chased by some hooligans. I escaped, unharmed. However, I never forgot the experience. Next I said, gosh, what if this or that had happened, and I was on a roll. Tipping Point was the result.
