Lisa Mathisen A bramble she made in her house by the lake

She collected new friends who would never wake

- from Arachnine, Glimpse Dark Side vol 4
Lisa Mathisen Hank Reardon and Dagny Taggart - Atlas Shrugged. Two explosive dynamos collide. Their fling is frenetic; intense and although on paper looks like a perfect match doesn't really work. It's the most realistic description of a relationship I ever read.
Lisa Mathisen Well, since The Glimpse Series concept is a collection of books with varying genres, I wryly calculated that a late September release would be a good time for the horror genre. Or at least my take on it. I actually found the cover art back in June and it prompted many story outlines all by itself. As for the content, I have always wanted to inject humor into horror just to see what would emerge. Dark Side is a bit Poe; a bit Twain with a dash of Tim Burton and lots of red wine.
Lisa Mathisen I have always loved to write. My father and sister are incredible writers and my brother writes beautiful poetry. It runs in the family so to speak. I never thought about publishing any of my musings until my friends on social media encouraged me to. I put my "glimpse" stories on Facebook and got good feedback from people who know what quality writing is. After much prompting and trepidation I took the plunge and self-published.
Lisa Mathisen Currently organizing outlines for vol 5, Glimpse Creature. The protagonists are all non-human: critters, bugs and assorted beings. After finishing the creepy vol. 4 Dark Side, I needed to write something sweet and fun. In Creature I assemble all the creature protagonists from previous volumes and add about 15 new stories. If you are or know an animal lover, this will be the perfect holiday stocking stuffer or hostess gift, as it will be shorter than the other volumes. Crossing my fingers for Thanksgiving release date.
Lisa Mathisen Turn off your TV and leave it off. Turn on music you love. Sit down at the computer and just do it. Keep doing it every day. This is how you start. It's the hardest part. The mechanics will come; just begin.
Lisa Mathisen Walk away from the computer. Go outside and play with my dog, go to the movies, eat something weird, go someplace new. Basically do anything but write for a couple of days, maybe a week. New stimulus is key.
