Zoe Ray I just wait for the inspiration. I want it to be genuine, and I don't want to force it. Sometimes I write anyway, but those are the times when the words come slowly, and they usually end up deleted.
Zoe Ray You can make up your own rules. Create the world you want, and sometimes, if you're lucky, you will find someone who appreciates your hard work. Writers are artists, and being an artist makes you vulnerable. When you meet someone who understands your art, it's a great feeling.
Zoe Ray If you get stuck on something, skip it. The answer will come to you as you continue past it. Sometimes the beginning is the hardest. I recently worked extremely hard on chapter 1 of a book and tossed it. In doing so, I realized that I didn't need it. It was boring, and the new chapter 1 was much better because I wrote the one I didn't need. The moral is, don't be afraid to let go.
Zoe Ray I'm working on a story with a strong female lead who takes on the evil forces. Title tbd.
Zoe Ray I am inspired by everyday things and what could have been. When other people see something normal and go on about their day, I wonder what if that had turned out differently. That's when the inspiration hits.
Zoe Ray I was intrigued by the idea of a workplace romance, and I was going to have a regular romance story where a lady falls for her boss. I had also been thinking about exploring the paranormal world. I thought about all the characteristics I wanted my male lead to have, and I realized they were the characteristics of a wolf, so I combined the two ideas and made my lead a wolf shifter. That made the story so much more interesting, everything fell into place after that, because obviously, the boss was an alpha male, but how would he tell that to his mate, and how would she react. Those elements excited me, and the story took off.
