I don't believe in writer's block.

I have no children. My novel is my baby. That baby will live forever. That makes me feel wonderful. I've contributed to the world in some manner that will survive me.

Don't think because you've put pen to paper, as it were, that you've written something. I have written the equivalent of 3 novels just to create my current novel. I became self-satisfied that because I wrote a chapter that it meant that the chapter was finished. My editor helped me to see that some of what I was holding onto was ego-focused, not story focused.

I'm learning how to market my novel, albeit, slowly. I really would like to work on my sequel, but I have other more pressing matters to deal with, such as making a living.

Writing is not an inspiration to me. It is a duty.

Thanks for asking, Goodreads. I wrote my novel because I had something that I believed needed to be said. When I tried other types of creative writing, my desire to make my "statement" kept creeping up into my other ideas. I knew that I needed to get this out of the way before I could move on. So, fifteen years later, I've finally birthed my thoughts and my characters and have had my say, as it were. Now, of course, I have something else to say, which will be explored in my sequel. But my hope is that it doesn't take another 15 years.
