Carma Haley Shoemaker My favorite fictional couple... That's not an easy question. From a literary standpoint, it would have to be Katherine and Michael from Forever by Judy Blume. This was my first book that dealt with real adult themes and it really spoke to me. I fell in love with the characters. Some of the themes of the book - sex, suicide, depression - hit very close to home.

As far as theatrical couples, as soon as I watched the movie Notting Hill, Anna Scott and William Thacker became one of my favorite couples. It's a modern spin on an old tale and the characters were perfect from their first lines.
Carma Haley Shoemaker The best thing about being a writer is that I am able to connect with other people through my work. Many times I have received emails thanking me for writing a certain article or essay, or poem, because it spoke to someone, helped a person in some way. That to me, is priceless.
Carma Haley Shoemaker I don't believe in writer's block. I actually think of it more as creative dehydration. If you're having a hard time getting the words to flow for your current WIP, work on something else. Change gears. You don't wear the same clothes every day. You don't eat the same food at every meal. And if you do the same exercises, you get bored.

The same goes with writing. Change it up. And before you know it, the words will flow faster than you fingers and type.
Carma Haley Shoemaker I know it sound cliché, but just write. Even when you don't want to, or you hate everything that comes out onto the page, write anyway. Write, every day, in some form, to keep your creative mind active.

And always remember, you know those people you admire and adore and stand in line to get their books? They started out EXACTLY where you are right now. No one sits down and spits out a million dollar best selling novel. Everyone had to start somewhere.
Carma Haley Shoemaker I have several projects in the final stages. I am working on getting Sheltered in print. I have a new title coming out in November as part of a series. I have two independent titles that will be released, as well as an anthology. I also have a trilogy that I am hoping to release by mid 2017. I will keep you update on the releases of all of these projects.
Carma Haley Shoemaker One of the ways I get inspired to write is by talking with other authors and brainstorming ideas. I belong to a writing group in North Central Ohio, and the conversations we have are so lively and inspiring, its hard not to write afterward.

I also find that music and HP movies tend to keep my fingers flowing across the keyboard quite easily.
