When I was about ten years old, I lost a beautiful jade ring my father had given to me. He had been stationed in Korea for a year, and I had only seen him once in that year. He had brought me back the jade ring when I was eight. I lost it swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. I've always wondered where that ring ended up. I hope some little girl on the other side of the ocean found it.

There are too many!! But I will list two of my favorites. Definitely Blue and Gansey from the Raven Cycle - I love, love, love Gansey and adore how Blue tends to dismiss him just enough to make the reader ache for them to get together. And from Court of Mist and Fury which I just read, I love Feyre and Rhysand. Their romantic journey melts me.

First Born came to me while helping my daughter write her paper on the Civil War. So many people died, and I wondered how anyone survived unless they were immortal. Immortals would be the ultimate weapon for national security. The book I'm currently writing came naturally as a continuation of Tarian and Audrey's life after First Born.

I'm not really sure. These people just live in my head. But the idea for First Born came to me when I was helping my daughter write her paper on the Civil War. It fascinated me that so many men risked their lives and died such horrible deaths and I kept wondering how anyone ever survived such a tragic war unless they were immortal. :)

Mostly it's fun. I enjoy my writer friends in my critique group. Probably the best thing is the sense of accomplishing something that will bring happiness to someone else. And I've shown my children that anyone can fulfill their dream no matter how old you are and no matter how long it takes.

I drive long distances in my car and listen to books on CD or audible. For some reason the long distance, the solidarity and hearing words circulate through the car inspires me.
