(view spoiler)[What happened to Striker Roark during Legends of Ahn? He was no longer around after Stargazer left Serret so I assume he left, but there was no mention of it and no mention of him at all after that point. What happened to him? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Re-reading Legends of Ahn, I noticed something. Bilior made the deal with Rezkin on behalf of all the Ahn'an, so they would be required to serve the other party if their end was not upheld. Rezkin, however, made his end of the deal to benefit all his people and not just himself, thus making the deal between all of the ancients and Rezkin and all of his subjects. Is there any merit to this? (hide spoiler)]

I wouldn't say that I have a main inspiration. I thought about the things I liked in many of the books I've read and tried to incorporate similar subjects. I was actually writing a different series (unreleased) when this other character kept interrupting me. He was so relentless, I decided to write him down before I forgot about him (assuming he would let me). Thus, Rezkin (and KDT) was born.

(view spoiler)[Rezkin has been growing as a person throughout the series so far, I assume this will continue, but will he ever become normal in regards to the way he understands certain things such as "friends", or will he always be distant? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I like to include many of the fantasy tropes because people desire and expect them (mostly because they're awesome), but that doesn't mean we can't poke a little fun at them, too. There are so many ways to write a story, but it is a wonderful challenge to approach something that has been done and make it new (and perhaps humorous).
While I include tropes, I avoid making them the focus of the story, at least not in the traditional sense. (BOOK 2 SPOILER) For example, there is a tournament in ROM because, come on, medieval-style epic fantasy has to have a tournament. However, while the tournament is the destination and then setting for most of the book, it is not the focus of the story. Rezkin voices his opinions on tournaments more than once, and he is truly up to much more important things. It so happened that King Caydean had other plans for the tournament as well. (view spoiler)[I would not consider Rezkin to be either a psychopath or sociopath. While he exhibits many (or most) of the traits of both, he does so as a learned--or programmed--behavior. While his behavior falls outside of our societal norms, he is following a set of rules that he has been taught to believe are not only appropriate but necessary for survival. His lack of emotion is an induced condition, rather than a natural one. As the series continues, we begin to see a breakdown of this conditioning first seeded by his master's bungling of the final Rules while in the throes of death. Under normal social circumstances, a person would learn to identify and contend with emotions, but Rezkin has been trained to suppress them. Therefore, his emotional growth is stunted, resulting in an inability to connect with others on a personal level that is compounded by his strict adherence to the Rules. Even if he develops true feelings (a worthy topic of debate), he is unlikely to recognize them and even less likely to admit to them. I'll not be giving any spoilers on the subject, though.
