The best thing about being a writer is that my schedule is flexible. I may work a LOT, and sometimes I may stay up super late to meet deadlines, but I'm always there for my kids to take care of them when they are sick, go over their schoolwork with them, take them to appointments, and occasionally just to have fun play dates in the middle of the day. They are my motivation for why I work so hard.

Sometimes I have to data dump all of the thoughts that are going on in my mind onto paper or into the notes section of my phone so I can concentrate. Taking a walk also really helps to reset the mind. If all else fails, there's always more coffee. ;)

I just wrote a scene about everyone's favorite medical synth, Sam. And now I am trying to catch up on Goodreads, social media, and administrative tasks before I write a scene about Sakura and Lab Site X.

Find other writers who are successful and get a mentor. There are a lot of valuable resources out there for indie authors, like the Self-Published Formula, 20Booksto50K, InkersCon, and MasterClass. Join some of these communities and learn as much as you can. In the beginning, you don't know what you don't know.
Also, this answer is personal to me--perfectionism is the enemy of action. I would tend toward paralysis by analysis. Just get the words on the paper--then you can fix it up and do your multiple editing passes.

I think it's hard not to read from your own vantage point. So if you hail from the USA, you innately want to see your home country as the "good guy," whether you realize it or not.
We've considered writing a series like this, but I think it would make a lot of readers unhappy at the end of the day...
