The moment I decided to write and keep writing until the book was finished, I broke through a wall. Prior to that I had been writing the beginnings of my books over and over again, never committing, never finishing.
My dad and I made a commitment to send each other 10 pages from our book each week and then we would discuss each other's work. That really helped me.
Find a buddy to get you through it if you need to. Set a goal of pages per week. Don't re-do until you're finished (unless it is plot affecting).

The main book I am working on is the sequel for Syrin. (View my blog to see some title options. I'm a bit stuck at the moment.) There is a second series I am working on occasionally, Seven Souls Deep. It is quite darker than Syrin. There is a lot going on in it that has to be balanced and controlled and revealed at just the right moments.

I'm not sure exactly how the idea came to me for Syrin, as this idea has been around for 12+ years. I know it was centered on Tara's abilities. But instead of it being stagnant, her only having one skill, it grew. What else could this ability do? I read articles in Science magazines, blogs, or just straight up googled possibilities for specific traits I've created. Sometimes having a factual scientific explanation on what is possible brings forth even more possibilities. If A is true, than B and C could happen because of it.
