S.K. Miner My writing style depends on the project. For example, The Wind Whispered Her Name is a classic fairy tale; as such, it is quite different than the contemporary mystery novel-in-progress. Best of luck to you in the giveaway!
S.K. Miner It was inspired by a true story, and I did all the illustrations (mixed media). It is a very feminist fairy tale, although it may not seem to be at first.
S.K. Miner The cycle of domestic violence is, unfortunately, too common. A child who grows up with violence in the home is more likely to step into the role of an abuser or a victim in their own adulthood. Talking about domestic violence factually is difficult, deeply personal, and not appropriate for all ages. Throughout human history, we have shared difficult stories and inspired people to change behavior through the framework of fairy tales. The Wind Whispered Her Name is an allegory of domestic violence, and, most importantly, about a young woman who breaks free of the cycle.
S.K. Miner Usually I'll write a placeholder paragraph and move on to the next scene. If that doesn't work, meditative doodling helps to clear my mind.
S.K. Miner My current project is a mystery novel set on an equestrian farm on California's central coast.
