Laura Carter Hi Helen,

This was so tough. I love all of my characters for different reasons. But there is one character that is more like me than any other, so I have chosen this quote by Jess from my next release, HEDGING HIS BETS.

“I see my parents every day. I see them in the blue of the sea, the green of the grass. I hear them in the song of birds and the whistle of the wind. I see them in the beams that shine around the sun, as if they’re lighting up the sky to say hello. And I feel like they’re always here, always watching me from another time and place." - Jessica Walters, Hedging His Bets.
Laura Carter Loud, relentless banging on the brass knocker of the front door woke me from my wine induced coma. With last night's make-up drawing black circles around my eyes, my hair tatted from drool, and my bed shorts wedged between my bum cheeks, I opened the door to the most mesmerising man I had ever seen.
Laura Carter BALANCING THE SCALES is my next release - 21 November. When I set out writing the book, I just knew I wanted to bring back the classic rom-com. A fun, swoon-worthy, romantic read. There's enough angst in the world at the moment and I wanted Balancing the Scales to be a light, relaxing, escape for people. That's exactly how it felt writing the novel. Drew and Becky are two of my favourite characters to date and I'm sure you're all going to love their playful, at times sassy, and at times sexy, story.
Laura Carter Right now, I am editing the third standalone novel in my all new romantic comedy series, BRITS IN MANHATTAN. The books will be publishing through Kensington Publishing 2017-2018, beginning with BALANCING THE SCALES on 21 November 2017. Readers can expect sweet, sexy and sassy comedy with laugh-out-loud moments and an unforgettable cast of characters. Laura Carter Being able to create characters and getting to know every tiny thing about them. Falling in love with them because you know their inner most thoughts and secrets, what makes them tick and what makes them redeemable.
Laura Carter So far *touches wood* I haven't had it. I've had moments when I've just dried up for the day or I really can't get in the zone. Then, I've given myself a break, done or thought about something else. To this point, that's the worst it's been for me, thank fully.
Laura Carter Honestly, I have no clue where the ideas come from, I just home they keep coming. But sometimes it is difficult to switch off from real life and be in the right frame of mind to pen a particular scene in a book. When I feel like that I quite often use music. I find a song that I think suits the scene I'm about to write and I listen, waiting, until I feel ready to write.
Laura Carter Don't look back. Keep looking forward and get your words down on the page. You can edit once you've typed those two big words...THE END.
