I got the idea to my historical fantasy series from my interest in knights, my passion for reenactment and when my sister—who's a genealogist, found we descend from several knights throughout history. Luckily, Roger de Robelin's book—the genealogies of the Skancke family showed which knights I descended from, and I decided to write their story.
