Carroll Devine Write when you have something to say. Write when you can't not say it. When when you need to figure out what you think. Write when thoughts wake you up in the middle of the night and won't leave you alone, whether or not you intend to publish or even show to anyone else. Don't write to try to fill up a page unless it's only to empty your head onto paper so that you can sleep.
Carroll Devine I get inspired by fresh new mornings, by watching nature, by seeing babies smile, by meaningful interactions with people.
Carroll Devine To deal with writer's block I go outside in a natural environment, whether a lake, a park or even my backyard and I still myself. I do some deep breathing and releasing the tensions that are making me feel that I "have to" produce something. Instead, I focus on something in nature - almost anything - and let everything else go. When I'm settled into "me," inspiration usually comes to let me know what I might write, or not. The key is to relax and release. Stop "thinking."
