Josephine Ensign The truth is that I have never had writer's block. I have, however, had many years of other things competing for my time and attention that 'blocked' my writing. Work, single-motherhood, the craziness of homelessness--those sorts of things.
Josephine Ensign For Catching Homelessness, the idea began to percolate in my mind around the year 2006. I wanted to write a medical memoir that was engaging and thought-provoking. Lauren Slater's book, Welcome to My Country, served as a sort of model for the type of book I wanted to write.
Josephine Ensign I have recently finished writing a second book manuscript for my project "Soul Stories: Voices From the Margins." And I have begun research and writing on a third book project, "Skid Road: The Intersection of Health and Homelessness." These two books, along with my "Catching Homelessness" book, are a sort of homeless trilogy.
Josephine Ensign Read widely and deeply. Read (and study) the 'Great Books' but make sure that you consult with an inclusive list of 'Great Books' so that you don't focus on dead, white, Western-civ, erudite authors.
