I wanted to pay homage to the embodiment of all that was fantasy during my childhood. I wanted dark themes, heavy action, and nostalgic heroism crunched into an engaging adrenaline rush that hopefully new young adult fantasy readers could enjoy. I was shooting for a kind of "Dungeons and Dragons for the new generation."

Well, lol that's a secret. But I will say I have two post apocalypse novels in the planning process, as well as a sequel, and a blended genre scifi novel.

Don't rush it. There's nothing worse than writing and publishing a novel just to realize that it could've been better, a character more dynamic, a scene more realistic, etc. Diamonds don't form over night. They take a very long time to come about. Treat your novel like you know it deserves to be treated.

To me writer's block is just a blanket term for not being able to write. That inability can stem from a variety of things, from lack of sleep to an underdeveloped plot. The key for me is usually to figure out what's causing the block and correct it. Presto. No more writer's block!
