E. Bast Separate the creative process from the editing process. Let creation be messy, wild, erratic, excessive, and "imperfect." Perfectionism is a killer of creativity. Only after the creative process, the editing comes in. Be ruthless with editing. Cut away more than you think you need to until only the most potent bare bones are left. Edit the passages over and over and over. One of my favorite writers claims to edit up to 100 times.
E. Bast The best thing about being a writer is fostering greater understanding and compassion amongst human beings through the craft.
E. Bast My favorite practice is writing in a fast, uncensored stream of consciousness first thing in the morning for 10-15 minutes. I affectionately call this my "head cleaner." It can be poetry, prose, immediate sensations, worries, journaling, goals... anything! The content is whatever is taking up space in my consciousness at the moment. Once this personal writing is done, I feel so much more psychic space for the writing project at hand.
E. Bast I get inspired to write by the insatiable desire to communicate, connect, and share our common humanity.
E. Bast After our experience with iboga, I discovered that most people don't know about the vast healing potential of the iboga plant medicine. The relatively few people I encountered that did know about it were often misinformed or didn't know where to find good resources. I hope this vulnerable memoir helps to expand the awareness about iboga in a good way.
