Last year I was suffering through depression. I had stepped down from my job as an assistant manager, money was dwindling away everyday, and I had lost my identity. I sat down and outlined the antagonist of my story, who originally was the protagonist, but emotionally I wanted to create a character that was me. I wanted a character that was imprisoned in the darkest depths of their innermost subconscious because I was lost at the time. I literally wanted to die but creating Lord Tallos opened my eyes. I put all of my emotions into him, his family, and the races around him. I can honestly say if I didn't fall into hard times and fall to the point of destruction, I would not have created possibly one of the best pieces of work I have ever written.

Youtube. I literally listen to epic music without lyrics everyday. Two Steps from Hell has been a huge contributor to the creative process for me. If I could personally send them a letter of thank you, I would.
Also, photos of New Zealand. The luscious grass and mountainous landscapes have always intrigued me.

I am currently reworking "Mirror's Veil". This is a standalone/possible two book novel that I wrote when I was in high school. It has been a piece that has sat in my filing cabinet, gathering dust for a long time. I'm also putting together book two of "The Aldoras Chronicles".

Writing is a tough gig. Honestly, the road to reaching this point was not easy. I went through many of the same struggles other authors have been through: financially, emotionally, and physically. Just remember to always keep your day job. Remember your friends and family because writing will suck you in. Always eat and drink regularly. There have been a few fellow authors I know that have run themselves sick. Just always be persistent and never give up.

The best thing about writing is all the surprises that come with creating the novel. Normally I have an outline written, which is my road map to finish the book, but by the time I reach the middle or end I have taken more turns than a Nascar driver at Bristol Speedway. It's just amazing how an author's imagination can run wild and there is no one over my back saying, "No, you can't do this."

Writer's block has always been a struggle for many authors. If I start to see myself running into it, I usually grab myself a cup of coffee and watch movies. I mostly watch "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Hobbit". Occasionally, I'll watch the block sessions in the bonus features just to sprint my creativity. It's fun to watch others at work and helps fend off writer's block.
