Don't read too many of those "tips for writers", or "rules for writing the next best seller" articles. Some do have good advice but I feel it's best to do your own thing. Write for you and your enjoyment. You can worry about the technical stuff after you have your story completed.

I drive...I know that's odd (and a kind of scary) but for whatever reason, ideas pop into my head while I'm driving. People that I pass probably think I'm singing or talking to someone else in the car but usually I'm working out some character dialogue.
