G. Jordan Lyons Don't even get me started. I see plots for books everywhere I look. It's enraging. I don't have time. I already talked about how I'm being haunted by bugs that I've killed - I squish a spider, and then it appears again in the same spot the next day. Ghost bugs! Can it get any worse? Or the mole I can't catch in my backyard; I've never seen him, but I feel like he sees me.
G. Jordan Lyons Patience. Ultimately, that's the only answer. If you are forcing material during periods of writer's block, then chances are the writing is no good. The experience of "writer's block" should be used as an opportunity to grow with whatever story you are trying to tell. It is definitely a challenge, because writing is already a slow process; but those who are able to be patient during those times when good writing evades us are more likely to come out on top. When I'm struggling for material, I take that as a sign to slow down and marinate for a while.
