L.A. Berry The book library in Shadow of the Wind would be heaven. Imagine spending days rummaging through the pages of writing.

L.A. Berry Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee
Signs for Lost Children by Sarah Moss
American Pastoral by Philip Roth
L.A. Berry Most families have hidden secrets and my own has a few skeletons. The rumour is that we are descended from aristocracy but on the wrong side of the blanket. The history behind this story would be a great plot for a mystery book.

L.A. Berry The answer that springs immediately to my mind are Rhett and Scarlett in Gone with the Wind. Neither of them is without flaws and each grows in different ways. The ending of the book left me with hope for their future together.
L.A. Berry Everyone gives advice such as write every day, write about something you know, watch the adjectives, etc. I don't think any of this matters if you don't feel passionate about writing. Every week I write something (usually a short piece of fiction) for myself. During the past few years, I have written on my blogsite www.writelindy.wordpress.com and I have gained some loyal followers. This has helped me to promote my novel through a forum that readers recognise and trust.

Listen to experienced writers speak about their work. Hay Festival in the UK inspires me to rush home and start writing. We all suffer the same insecurities and that is reassuring.

When writing a long piece I have to close the door and turn off the wifi. I am not very good at putting this into practice which has cost me hours of writing time so I have had to give myself a date to work towards. That finishing line instils a sense of panic if I allow myself to become too distracted.

My objective is to put the stories in my head on to paper. This novel is the first time I have considered the audience before myself and the finished work is not at all like the original because I wanted to tell the story in a genre that would appeal to a wide audience. This meant that I had to focus on developing an active plot whereas my initial plan was to relate the emotional journey of both my protagonist Mercedes and her missing son. I had written 50000 words of my first draft when I began the Faber Academy on-line course Writing a Novel. The guidance of the tutor and feedback from the other students influenced the direction of the novel.
L.A. Berry Escaping from the daily grind and sitting at my desk however, even when I am not writing, I am planning and creating in my mind.
L.A. Berry Creating stories. My imaginary world is very interesting.
L.A. Berry A suspense novel set in 1961 in Yorkshire. Read the synopsis on my website www.laberrynovels.org
L.A. Berry I write most days because I love to read. When I was a young child I read everything, even the back of cereal boxes. Sometimes daily life interferes but I always return to my stories. I love writing flash fiction and some of this can be seen on my blogsite www.writelindy.wordpress.com
L.A. Berry I watched a documentary about the Stolen Babies of Spain and was amazed that so few people had heard about the many children removed from their mothers at birth. I wanted to write a novel about the subject which avoided the sentiment but instead focussed on one woman's journey to expose the child trafficking network. The suspense/thriller genre seemed appropriate as it appeals to the female and male reader.
