Hi! I have just recently discovered your works and wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying them. I am a huge fan of Mariah Stewart, Allison Brennan and the late Beverly Barton. I am pleased to add you to that list of amazing writers. I just finished the "Senseless" books and am now starting the "Texas Rangers". Just a quick question.....any thoughts of ever returning to the characters from "Senseless"?

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Mary Burton BE AFRAID was inspired by a documentary I saw on a forensic artist. I was fascinated by how this person could create such a lifelike image from a skull that was hundreds of years old. I also heard a police canine officer speak and was inspired by his story. The second I had both these elements BE AFRAID began to form in my mind.

How do you get inspired to write?
Mary Burton Inspiration is everywhere. I find inspiration in the news, research books, conversations, taking a walk, at conferences, or online classes.

Mary Burton I'm writing the next romantic suspense.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Mary Burton Break down your goals into manageable pieces. Don't say, "I'm going to write a book this year." That's a big goal and easy to ignore. Instead promise yourself you will write one page a day. Every time I start a novel the first thing I do is break it down by the number of pages I will write each day and then I write those daily page goals on my calendar to remind me of my promise to myself.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Mary Burton I love creating stories. Its much like creating a puzzle and cutting the pieces as I go. For me there is no better job in the world!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Mary Burton I've never had writer's block. There are days when I'd rather be out with friends but I never shut the computer off for the day until my daily pages are finished.

Do real life cases inspire your cases in the Morgan Series books or other books?
Mary Burton Dawn, great question! I pay close attention to the news to see how crimes are covered b the media and handled by the police but I've never used a real life crime in one of my books.

I just got done finishing your book, "Cover Your Eyes", and was wondering why it was titled that? I could not seem to piece that together, if you could let me know your inspiration for the title that would be amazing!
Mary Burton Hannah, I so glad you read COVER YOUR EYES! I actually didn't pick the title, my editor did, but I do like it and I love the cover!
