Timothy J. Jorgensen I had read, The Emperor of All Maladies (Mukherjee), Thunderstruck (Larson), and Moneyball (Lewis). Each of these books explains very technical concepts by presenting them within the context of human interest stories. This approach makes the information more understandable, more memorable, and more entertaining. I thought someone should take the same approach to explain the hazards of radiation, because the public has great concerns about the dangers of radiation but there are few sources of accessible unbiased information. Strange Glow is my effort to fill that gap and explain radiation in a way similar to how the books above explain other technical topics. My goal is not necessarily to lessen people's various fears of radiation, but rather to better align their fears with the reality.
