Paul Manes I don't really believe in inspiration, in the sense that a Muse appears and grants you a marvelous idea. I just like writing. And I need to do it. So I do it.

And I try to do it everyday, even if it's a single word. Jim Butcher once said "Write everyday, even if it's just a single word, because that will get you that much closer to finishing your work".

So yeah, I don't really believe in inspiration.
Paul Manes I'm outlining my next novel. Working title "Richard the Dragon". It's... Well...

"What if Indiana Jones was a Dragon?"

If you like Jim Butcher and The Dresden Files, you're probably gonna like Richard.
Paul Manes Keep writing.

This is the thing people say the most, and you're probably sick and tired of reading and hearing it, but keep writing.

Neil Gaiman was the first to tell me this, and I didn't really understand what he meant back then, but now I do. And Neil is a Supreme Master of the Universe, so you should listen to him.

Another thing: finish things. Learn how to finish things.

"Write. Finish Things. Keep Writing." - Neil Gaiman
Paul Manes I'm from the "Brandon Sanderson School of Thought", so I don't believe in writer's block.

I think "writer's block" is just a lame excuse for not writing. I mean, you're a professional, or at least an aspiring one, so you should be writing. I've never seen a driver saying "I have driver's block, so I won't be able to work today".
