Trish Butler No sorry, not a very good answer, but horror is not my thing to watch or read, or write.
What a horror that is!
Trish Butler I just bought 'On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century' and I am so glad I did because now I sound very intellectual! More often though I like detective series. I have stuck with Sue Grafton and her alphabet series since forever. I love Kinsey Millhone. I found Kathy Reichs' books late, so am still playing catch up. Mostly these days I read and reread my own books as I edit and edit!!!
Trish Butler Several things come to mind, but the most obvious one would be that I left England and moved to the USA! Maybe I will have to incorporate that plot into my series? You'll have to read to see if I do. ;)
Trish Butler The easy answer is Darcy and Elizabeth! Probably the top choice of Goodreads' members.

The less obvious answer is Harold and Maude (it was a book as well as a movie, so I hope that counts!)

It's funny - as love should be. I've always loved the less popular idea of a younger man with an older woman and the switch of their roles. She lived life, but embraces death. He 'commits suicide' (often) but at the end embraces life.
Trish Butler I'm no expert, let me start with that. I find sometimes I'm trying to write perfectly straight off. Forget that! While the ideas are flowing and you have enthusiasm, get it all down. You can fuss and fiddle with it later. If all you have is a scene, but no plot as yet, get it down. From that you can get another and another.
Trish Butler Good question Goodreads! I've only just recently started to think of myself as a writer. The best time is when I've come up with an exciting scene and am getting it down at 1 or 2 am. When it's done I punch the air with both arms and a whispered "Yesssss!!" Good times.
Trish Butler I have not had it yet! I expect I will, but as I work part time and am a Mom to a child with autism my slate is full. Consequently, when I do get the chance to write I have been mulling over my ideas all day or over several days.
Plus, I am 50 and this is my first book, so I'm hoping I have 50 years of inspiration to draw on.
Trish Butler Thank you for the question Goodreads. Redway Acres is a series! Helena was book 1, so now I am working on book 2 which is called Maria. That is pronounced the way it was in the early 1800s in England which is 'ma-RYE-ah' even though it is not spelled with an 'H' at the end.
All we know of Maria from book 1 is that she is married. So this one has to cross the timeline of the first book and that is hard to do because I can't write anything that is contrary to anything I've written in the first book!
The fun part of that is that I can take the characters I have established already and bring in some backstory for them. In this one we will learn more about the romance between Genevieve and Harker and get a glimpse of what Colonel Ackley is like as a bachelor! ;)
Trish Butler Thanks again for the question Goodreads! I think about the characters first, strengths, weaknesses, how others can influence them. If I like the character then I work a plot around them. Helena is the first one that took root.
Trish Butler Thank you Goodreads for the question. I wrote about my process in my latest blog on my website www.redwayacres.com which I plan to link to my profile here.
Mainly I like to think of strong female characters and work the story around them. This is the first one that has become a book however.
