I am always involved in stories. Books, television, movies, even video games. Everywhere I go, everything I see, I consider the story presented and plots that may be hinted at throughout. Everything inspires me to write.

I am currently writing book 2 of a three book series (I don't publish any until all are complete). The series is centered on a city built by two former enemies. The city is protected by a group of secretive women operating outside the law to keep all they cherish safe from those too soon removed from a centuries long bitter war. It will be my fundamental series for a long time.

Never give up, no matter how lost you are, how long it has been since you could dare to write a word. Sometimes you are good. Sometimes you are wonderful. Sometimes you are awful. Most times, you are nothing. But keep going. Always push forward.

Forcing it is only exhausting. If I can't write something else, I'll read, watch movies, or leave stories alone for a while entirely. The brain needs variety. Block might mean that I'm trying to contain my focus in too narrow a scope and I need to see some new stuff to get inspired.

The most awe-inspiring, joyful part of being a writer, to me, is being consumed by a character's need to be himself or herself. You reach a certain point where they kind of write themselves and cannot be contained. I feel like a vessel, then, just along for the ride.

A SHINY FOR TRICK actually started off as a writing prompt. I needed something to get me writing again during a time of block, and my friend gave me this prompt: "The only thing inside was a blue stone that, when you shook it, rang like a tiny bell."
