Follow your dream as I did, but be clear on your goal. If you are just wanting to produce a self-published book for your own interest, your family and friends, then be aware that there is a cost behind it all. If you want to make a profit out of your publications then be aware that you have to put a lot of work into marketing and selling and it can take two or three years just to break even. I get inspired to write from many different spheres of influences in my life: from my family, the books I read and from the people who read my books. In an odd way I was inspired to write by a famous actor who attended the same school as I did back in the 1930s. The boy was Derek Niven van den Bogaerde, who inspired my two pseudonyms, and became Sir Dirk Bogarde. He went on to write 15 books, heavily edited as his spelling was atrocious, and I thought if he can do it so can I
