Hi Aly!
Thank you for asking me a question! My schedule doesn't always allow for set writing habits since I have school age children and I also sell real estate. Lately, I've been waking at 5 AM and writing for three hours before my children get up. On nice days, I'm at a table on our back porch, which affords a pretty view. It's by far my favorite place to write. I also like writing at my local library and late night in the office where I sell real estate. Those spots are quiet and force me to sit, write and not get up and do things like laundry.
Thank you again!

Hi Brooke,
Thank you for the question! During the book clubs I've attended, the women have largely wanted to talk about the book's sexcapades, the potential of kundalini, trainers/instructors who they believe have hit on them and people they know who remind them of characters in the book. They have also asked specifics about the characters' futures but to answer your question without giving away any spoilers, the following are some good book club questions to begin the discussion.
1) What would you pick as your sexcapade? (This is the most asked question!)
2) What is your favorite sexcapade in the book? (Second most asked question!)
3) Do you believe in the awakening powers of Kundalini?
4) Do you believe Jack has good or bad intentions for his students?
5) Do you know anyone who is like Tory or Leigh or Adair...?
6) One reviewer described the book as "ripping open the underbelly of contemporary suburban life." Do you have any thoughts on that statement?
Thanks again for your question, Brooke!

I'm working on a sequel for The Adjustments but it's not the one I originally planned. The two sisters Abby and Elizabeth remain and they are still living in Fairfield County but most of the other characters are new. I grew up going to an alternative Catholic church and traditional catholic schools, which made me question religion and it's impact on people beginning at a young age. And although I understand religion's positive role and the comfort it can be, my experience offers funny and dark material. At present, that book falls into the women's fiction category. I'm writing a book that is inspired by the summer community I go to in New England. It's not about it specifically, just inspired. It's a humorous murder mystery. And I'm working on a series of short autobiograhical stories that are inspired by the silly posts my sister and I used to make on Facebook. Similar to David Seders' style, the stories are all autobiographical and are meant to be insightful, funny and sad. (I hope they are!) I also want to work on ones that are fiction, which will allow me to use my imagination.

Inspiration is everywhere. People are fascinating.

Write. Edit. Write more. Outlines really help as long as you allow yourself to veer off of them when it feels right.

It helps me process what I thinking. It's cathartic. And I like the connection it creates with people I may not have met otherwise.

I didn't experience it with my first two books. Once I had the ideas for them, I wrote them and hoped I'd find an audience. Currently, when I have the time to write and have trouble thinking what to put down on paper, I do a few things: make a cup of coffee, go for a run or work on a different story. I'm currently writing two books and a series of shorter autobiographical pieces similar to the stories David Seders writes. I work on them interchangibly. The latter are easier to tackle and very fun to write.
