Amanda Saint That I get to become someone else and be somewhere else whenever I like!

The freedom to do it from anywhere is also great. My husband and I are both keen travellers so luckily we can up sticks at anytime and go any place and I can still write.

I've also met some lovely people and made great friends through going to writing events, and they like to talk about books as much as I do :-)
Amanda Saint I go for a walk. Much of my writing takes place in my head long before it gets onto the page so usually getting out and walking can get the story flowing again in my mind.

As I work as a journalist too I'm actually very good at just making myself sit down and get on with it!
Amanda Saint As If I Were A River came about when I kept hearing stories in the news about people going missing. Then I saw a documentary programme about missing people and there was a woman on there telling the story of how her husband went out with his friends one night, called her to tell he was on the way home at the end of the night but never arrived. He was never seen or heard from again. So I started to wonder how you would deal with that if it happened to you. That's the story I'm telling about Kate in this book - how she reacts when it happens to her.
