Find an agent, the right one for you and what you want to write. A book that isn't published isn't a book but a hobby, and most reputable publishers won't speak to new authors except through an agent. Read the agent's website carefully, especially their submission guidelines which you must follow. If you don't your stuff will go in the bin as they don't have time to mess around or tutor would-be authors.

I write for a living and have done since graduating in the early '80s. Inspiration is rarely a problem - one has more ideas than time to pursue them.
