I am working on a crime fiction, mystery/ suspense novel tentatively titled 'The Golden Brick' about an estate agent who turns rogue and takes desperate measures when his life starts falling apart. It has strong threads of dark humor running throughout.

I try to write every day. It's therapy for me and gives me something outside of the everyday to reflect on as I'm going about my daily business. I write early in the morning but spend a lot of time during the day thinking about whatever I'm writing. Coming up with ideas isn't a problem, but discipline can be.

I wanted to write a book with a strong element of mystery and suspense but I also wanted as my main character somebody who was very uncomfortable in the company of others and who goes to great lengths to avoid human contact. I made him gruff and taciturn as I felt this would make the story more compelling, but it also gave me a chance to open the character up over the course of the book as he is forced into a series of interactions and compelled to engage emotionally.
