Leah Ruth Hart Like everyone, I have desires. I make my unwitting characters live out those desires. Did you ever play with dolls or action figures when you were younger? That's what I do with my characters. They are my playthings. *evil grin*
Leah Ruth Hart Read. Read good books. Read bad books. Get to know the difference.

And write what you want. Don't be timid. If you feel like dropping f-bombs, do it. If you want to write about sex, do it! If you want to make a sick, depraved character, do that. And if you want a neat, clean story with none of the above, then do that!

Don't curb your creativity to conform to what you think others want. Give them what they didn't know they wanted.
Leah Ruth Hart When I get stuck on a story, I go back and read it again. Sometimes the mood can coax a scene out of my brain. If I get bored with one story, I move on to another. I always have a handful going at once, in different stages of completion.

Another thing that often works for me is skipping a scene and continuing on the path I mean to take. Sometimes it makes a scene fall into place. You don't always have to write in a straight line.
