Mark P. Dunn In no way am I joking when I say that this new book came directly out of reading The Mill on the Floss, by George Eliot. Not that the subject matter is in any way related, but the idea of playing with "literary doubles" is there, just as it is in Frankenstein and lots of other classics.
Mark P. Dunn The best thing about being a writer is that magical moment--and it happens every time I sit down to write--when a character says something, or does something, that I had no intention of having them say or do. The character Phylum from The Last Night is a perfect example. He just showed up and started doing and saying insane things. I love that.
Mark P. Dunn Right now, I'm working on a horror novel about a freak blizzard in Western Maine that turns out to be anything but natural in origin... It's a fun, bloody, nasty little story, and I can't wait to get back to it.
