I think one of the best things about being a writer is you can channel your thoughts and feelings into your work. Another great thing is you can set your own schedule and work at your own pace.

I have always wanted to be an author and inspired myself to make this dream a reality. The inspiration for the topics I write about comes from real life events, friends, family and especially my children.

His Kate is a fictionalized story based on my love for a friend who I met 18 years ago. It couldn't work out romantically so I wrote the story as a tribute to how I felt for him.

I am working on a second book. It is about a mom of three children, and while she loves them, she has always dreamed of becoming something more, such as a famous musician, Olympic athlete or Hollywood star. One summer day, she gets the day to herself and has the chance to see how the other side lives. Will she love this new life? What will happen as she truly discovers if the grass is greener on the other side?

Read anything and everything you can get your hands on, not only in the genre you want to write, but anything that interests you. Take note about what you like and what you don't like in books. Also note that when writing fiction, dialogue is very important and should be researched in order to write it successfully. Most importantly, don't ever give up. Follow your dreams and make them come true.

I turn off my laptop and work out, listen to music, read or simply take a break. I use the time to clear my head and focus on what I want to write.
