I recently experienced the worst writers block I'd ever experienced. It lasted about a month and although I had ideas in my notebook, I just couldn't get writing. So, I decided to do what I tell my writing students to do: write anyway. James Patterson calls this steam-rolling through. It works! Why? Because it's easier to fix an unsatisfactory draft than to fix a blank page.
